Personal care
Respectful help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and everyday routines.
Private-pay home care in Michigan
When a loved one needs personal care, mobility help, meals, companionship, or everyday support, private pay can provide a direct path to care without waiting for Medicaid Home Help authorization.
Private-pay inquiries are welcome even without Medicaid. The short form asks about Medicaid only so our team can understand which options may be relevant.

No Medicaid authorization is required to purchase private-pay care.
Requested hours depend on caregiver availability and the agreed care plan.
Review services, responsibilities, and current cost before care begins.
Everyday support
Allcare creates the service plan around the person, home, schedule, safety needs, and services the agency can responsibly provide.
Respectful help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and everyday routines.
Help walking safely, using a cane or walker, transferring, and moving around the home.
Meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and help keeping the home comfortable.
Conversation, reminders, safety awareness, and dependable presence when family cannot be there.
When private pay may fit
Private pay is separate from Michigan Home Help and health-plan authorization. Families can still ask Allcare to explain other possible payment paths.
Looking for Medicaid Home Help or family-caregiver payment instead?
How it works
Describe the daily routine, the care recipient’s location, and the times when support matters most.
Allcare reviews the ZIP code, requested schedule, care needs, and the safest way to begin.
Before services start, the family reviews the schedule, responsibilities, current rate, and service agreement.
The care plan can be reviewed as needs or schedules change.
Private-pay questions
Private pay means the client or family pays Allcare directly for agreed non-medical home-care services instead of waiting for Medicaid Home Help or a health plan to authorize the care.
No. Medicaid is not required to purchase private-pay services. If the person has Medicaid or a health plan, tell us so we can explain which questions should be verified before you choose a payment path.
Common requests include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility help, meal preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, reminders, and safety supervision. Allcare confirms the exact service plan before care begins.
Cost depends on the requested schedule, care needs, location, and current Allcare rates. Call for a written explanation before agreeing to services. The $18 starting caregiver-pay statement elsewhere on this site is not a private-pay customer rate.
Some policies may reimburse qualifying home-care expenses. Benefits, documentation, waiting periods, and reimbursement rules depend on the individual policy, so the family should confirm directly with the insurer.
Timing depends on the requested hours, location, care needs, caregiver availability, and completion of the service agreement. Allcare will give the family a realistic answer after the initial care conversation.
